2009-10 Schedule Announced
May 14, 2009
Coach Andy Sears has announced the high-powered, action-packed schedule for the 2009-2010 Vashon boys’ basketball teams
“I am very pleased with our upcoming schedule,” said Coach Sears. “We are honored to be competing against highly competitive opponents and in highly prestigious events in the coming year.” The Pirates open with the esteemed Rainier Beach Jamboree on November 28, and will then face three ’08-09 state tournament teams in the pre-season (Seattle Academy, Pt. Townsend, and Fife). Following this, the Pirates have been invited to participate once again in the Les Schwab Hoop Challenge, which will take place at Bellevue Community College on December 12. League play opens on December 15. During the winter holidays, Vashon will travel to Yakima (now familiar ground) for the Sun Dome Showdown on December 29 and 30. Highlights in 2010 will include a game against always-competitive Steilacoom, the King Holiday Hoopfest on January 18, and the remainder of the league schedule. Sub-district is scheduled for February 18 and 20, and the Tri-District tournament will be on February 23 and 27. The season culminates in Yakima March 3-6, where the Pirates hope to defend their State Championship and bring the golden basketball home once more.
